Ruby "Ruben" Wilson

Ruby Howard Wilson, affectionately known as “Ruben”, 94, resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Sunday, August 16, 2020 at the home of his great niece in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was born April 6, 1926 in Dutchtown, Missouri to the late Charles Green Wilson and Mary Jane Holmes Wilson.

Ruby attended John S. Cobb School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and enlisted in The United State Army in 1945.  Upon serving his country, he received an honorable discharge and relocated to St. Louis, Missouri.

He was self-employed for a number of years in lawn service until his health failed and he relocated back to Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was also employed by General Grocers Supply Plant in St. Louis, Missouri for a number of years.

Ruby was active in several organizations including Shriners’ International and Prince Hall Masons.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Keith Wilson, his three brothers, Roy Wilson, Frank Wilson and Les Wilson and his four sisters, Leora Wilson Timms, Mary Wilson Cardwell, Zelma Wilson Green and Lorraine Wilson.

He is survived by three sons, Vincent Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, and Gerald Booz and LaMar Wilson of St. Louis, Missouri, a niece, Louise Cardwell Duncan of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a nephew, Silas Cardwell of Bangor, Wisconsin, a great niece, Yvonne “Vonnie” Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two special great nephews, Anthony and Marshall, and a special great niece, Kyley, who helped with his care, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, other relatives and friends.

Graveside rites with Military Honors will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 A. M. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.  The Williams Funeral Home in Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
