Ruth Henry "Flossie" Williams

December 30, 1931 — May 1, 2022

Ruth Henry Williams (affectionately known as Flossie), age 90, departed this life on May 1 st , 2022 in Chicago, IL., surrounded by her daughter Beverly Crockwell, granddaughter Kysha Crockwell and great granddaughter Jasmine Vance.

She was born December 30, 1931 to the late George Howard Henry Sr. and Carrie Travis Henry of Bell City, MO.

Ruth confessed Christ at an early age.  She was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Haywood City, MO., where she served on the Mother’s Board under the leadership of Rev. Alex Sims.  She served faithfully until she moved to Chicago, IL., and became a member of Bethlehem Unity Missionary Baptist Church where she again served faithfully on the Mother’s Board under the leadership of Rev. Bill Evans.  She was faithful in her attendance and duties until her health, but not her heart, prevented her from attending services.

She was employed at the Bell City Nursing Facility, in Bell City, MO., where she retired around 1985 in order to care for her aging father.  Ruth then began caring for many of the newborns for family and friends (Kaneka, Delana, Nicolas, Emily and Annie, plus many more).  Ruth loved her family and friends wholeheartedly and they loved her too.  She was a friend to everyone and had a heart of gold.

In her free time, she loved gardening, fishing, taking care of animals (of which she never met a stray).  She would feed them and nurture them back to health then set them free.

On any given day you could find her in the kitchen, humming some hymn she probably made up while drinking coffee and washing dishes.

Ruth was a caregiver, a daycare provider, a mediator, and a veterinarian and we’ve probably missed a few accolades.

She was united in Holy Matrimony on December 24 th , 1964 to the late Junior N. Williams.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memories; one daughter, Beverly Crockwell of Chicago, IL., and one son Russell Williams (Reatha) of Dallas, TX., two brothers George Howard Henry Jr. and William Henry Sr. (Katherine) of Bell City, MO., two sisters Carrie Lee of Chicago, IL., Bernice Campbell (U.V) of Cape Girardeau, MO., four grandchildren Bernice Chavis (Randy), Felecia Kimbrough (Gerrold), Sammie Williams Jr, Kysha Crockwell, 16 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Robert (Bob) Williams, Eddie Williams, Sammie Williams Sr., two sisters, Wallee Henry Baker and Annie Henry Ward and two grandsons, Rodney Williams and Kevin Byrd.

Friends may call Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Haywood City, Missouri with Pastor Alex Sims officiating.  Interment will follow in the J.C. Pullen Memorial Garden in Bell City, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
