Mrs. Sarah Mae Jones, 84, resident of Sikeston, Missouri died Monday, August 20, 2018 at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born July 15, 1934 in Deason, Mississippi to the late Charlie and Ocie Harris Johnson.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and attended the Church of God in Christ.
Sarah moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1952. There she met Albert Jones and they were married in 1967. He also precedes her in death.
She was employed as a model for Lane Bryant for several years in Chicago, Illinois. Sarah retired in 1996 from the State of Illinois where she was a Chef for many years. She then relocated to Sikeston, Missouri.
Sarah loved going to yard sales, garage sales, cooking, gardening and fishing. Her style of gardening was very unique, because she would plant the garden and Fred would water and gather it.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Willie Mitchell, Charlie Johnson, Jr., Johnnie Johnson, Oscar Johnson and Robert Johnson, and six sisters, Lillie Mae Harris, Victoria Hart, Alixie White, Corean Spencer, Juanita Rush and Edna Mae Johnson.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Juanita Johnson of Sikeston, Missouri, one daughter, TaJuan Jones of Detroit, Michigan, one brother, John (Gwen) Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, two sisters, Earnestine Wells of Sikeston, Missouri and Olivia Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, three grandsons, Chad Johnson of Memphis, Tennessee, Chad Jones of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Josh Jones of Green Bay, Wisconsin, two granddaughters, Lisa Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri and Nita Dubose of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and a host of foster children, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time for the Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ in Sikeston, Missouri where Bishop Ronnie Webb will officiate.
