Shalonda Ann Sinks-Chappell

Shalonda Ann Sinks-Chappell, affectionately known as Shug, was born October 18, 1980 in Sikeston, Missouri to Vernell Long and Kathryn Sinks. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, James and Myretha Sinks, her uncles, James “Sam” Sinks, and Otha Lee Sinks, her aunts, Barbara Moore, Ernestine Woods, Dorothy Jean Sinks, and Mildred Sinks.

She graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, Missouri in 2000.

Shalonda loved the Lord and was a member of St. Matthews Full Gospel Missionary Baptist in Charleston, Missouri.

For 18 years, Shalonda worked as a Communications Officer at Charleston Department of Public Safety. She also worked part time with the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department.

She really enjoyed baking and listening to music. Her friends and family will also miss her saying her favorite phrase “ugly self”.

Shalonda made the transition to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 11, 2021, while at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, Missouri at the age of 40 years, ten months, and 24 days.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Felix Chappell of Charleston, Missouri, her sons, Kylan Chappell and KyMarion Chappell both of Charleston, Missouri, her daughter, Za'Hiriyia Kent of Charleston, Missouri, her brothers, Rico Sinks of Charleston, Missouri, Mortis Corbitt of Denver, Colorado, and Frederick (Rochelle) Chappell of Sikeston, Missouri, her sisters, Nicole (Jerome) Sinks, Chatonya (Jeff) Farries, and Shannon Corbitt all of Charleston, Missouri, special nieces, Kareisha Sinks, Valicia Garner, and Tyriana Farries, her best friend, Ishia Winston, and a host of  nephews, a great nephew, nieces, a great niece, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 12:00 P.M until the funeral hour of 1:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church, 1700 East Marshall Street, in Charleston, Missouri with Reverend Floyd Wade officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements.
