Shatekia Denise Gary

Shatekia Denise Gary, affectionately known as Kia, 30, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Sikeston, Missouri. She was born May 26, 1990 in Sikeston, Missouri to the late Lamont Thatch and Tonya Strickland of  St. Louis, Missouri.  She was adopted as a baby by Dorothy Gary of Charleston, Missouri.

Shatekia graduated from Charleston High School in 2008. While in school, she ran track and was a Homecoming Attendant her junior year.

For over ten years, she was a waitress at Dairy Queen. Shatekia was a fearless, loving mother with a big heart. She enjoyed spending time with her kids, watching movies, trying different restaurants and shopping. She made friends wherever she went.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Gary of Charleston, Missouri, one son, Kaiden Gary of Charleston Missouri, two daughters, Kennedi Gary and Zaria Blackmon of Charleston, Missouri, four brothers, Robert Gary of Sikeston, Missouri, Reginald Gary of Springfield, Missouri, Jason Gary of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Couvirseya "Red" Strickland of St. Louis, Missouri, two sisters, Jacquelyn Gary of Charleston, Missouri and Meisha Strickland of St. Louis, Missouri, a life partner, Zack Blackmon of Sikeston, Missouri, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A walk through visitation will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 at 11:00 A.M at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri.
