Snowdie Howard Farrar, 78, resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, formerly of Charleston, Missouri, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born February 29, 1940 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Bob Howard and the late Ardessie Kirkwood Howard.
Snowdie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in rural Charleston, Missouri where she sang in the choir, until she relocated to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She then joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri under the leadership of Pastor Joseph G. Cotton, Jr. She served on the Kitchen Ministry, Women Mission Ministry and on the Mother’s Board. Mother Farrar was willing to help wherever she could.
She was employed as a Certified Nurse's Assistant, Medical Technician and Physical Therapist throughout her life. She started at Beverly Nursing Home and later moved to Heartland Nursing Center where she worked for over 20 years. She then found employment with Chateau Girardeau for eight years before retiring. Caring for others was her passion.
On June 25, 1977, she was united in marriage to Alfred Farrar in Charleston, Missouri. They have enjoyed over 40 years together.
Mother Farrar had a big impact on many people. She loved fashion and loved to dress and had earrings to match every outfit. She had a big heart, a fun loving attitude, and she was sassy.
In addition to her parents, Bob and Ardessie Howard, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Vastie Nesby Smith and Alfreda Howard.
Mother Farrar is survived by her husband, Alfred Farrar of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two daughters and one son-in-law, Demetria "Faye" and Kerwin Henderson and Lisa Howard Jenkins of Bloomington, Illinois, one brother and one sister-in-law, Bobby (Jessie) Howard of Normal, Illinois, five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lendia Smith of Charleston, Missouri, Glenda (Elmer) Choclet of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Rosetta (Rufus) Newbill and Cinderretha Howard Jackson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Bobbie (Ronald) James of Little, Rock, Arkansas, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 10:00 am until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri with Pastor Joseph G. Cotton, Jr. officiating. Interment will be Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Missouri State Veterans’ Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with the Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
