Solomon Hatchett

September 7, 1948 — November 3, 2020

Solomon Edward Hatchett, affectionately known as King Solomon, 72, resident of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, formerly of Charleston, Missouri, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in his home. He was born September 7, 1948 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Joe and Rosetta Randle Hatchett.

Solomon attended Lincoln School in Charleston, Missouri prior to enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on September 2, 1965.  While serving his country, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooters Badge, Vietnamese Service Medal with three stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He proudly served and was honorably discharged on August 29, 1969.

Solomon received his Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.  He could be heard on KCHR's radio station in Charleston, Missouri.  Music was a huge part of his life. He was very talented.

He was very gifted with his hands, building and reconstructing.  He would use his talents to help others.  Solomon was a leader and a people person. He was a well-known DJ who loved bringing the community together.   He will be remembered for his smile, and letting us know he was on his way to Hollywood.

He is survived by a host of family members and friends who loved him.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri with his brother, Apostle Joel Hatchett, officiating.  Full military honors will be received at 11:30 A.M.
