Sonia Rodgers

Sonia Rodgers, 67, resident of Charleston, Missouri died Thursday, August 8, 2024 in her home. She was born July 24,1957 in Mound City, Illinois to Orlando Pratt, Sr. and Zepharine Henry McElrath.

Sonia was a woman of great faith and spirituality. She prayed every morning and night. She attended church in her younger years and maintained a personal relationship with God throughout her lifetime.

She graduated from Meridian High School in Mounds, Illinois. Afterward, she attended Shawnee Community College in Ullin, Illinois. She became a Certified Nurse’s Aide and began working at a local nursing home.

On July 21, 2000, she was united in marriage to Lenzey Rodgers. They shared over 24 years of love and happiness together.

Her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The majority of her free time was centered around spending time and making memories with them. She would do anything for them. They made her incredibly happy.

Sonia was a beautiful person. She loved music and making everyone laugh. She enjoyed dancing, especially with her brother, Eric. Her favorite thing to do was watch her old shows and westerns, especially “The Andy Griffith Show.”  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Idris Pratt and Eric Pratt, and her sister, Faye Pratt.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband of 24 years, Lenzey Rodgers of the home, her father, Orlando Pratt, Sr., her mother, Zepharine McElrath, her sons, Marcus (Vanessa) Pratt and Apollo Hughes, her daughters, Shanta Lathan, Jovanda Pratt, Zepharine Williams, Shaniece (T.C.) Mackins, and LaDonna (Eugene) Walker-White, her brothers, Orlando Pratt, Jr., Brian Pratt, Mario Pratt, Victor Pratt, James Pratt, and Nicholas Pratt, her sisters, Malinda McElrath, Belinda Hall, Roylene Copening, and Tiangela Pratt, 20 grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A private family viewing was held Sunday, August 11, 2024.
