Steven Wayne Wheeler

October 9, 1958 — July 24, 2020

Steven  Wayne Wheeler, 61, resident of Bertrand, Missouri died July 24, 2020 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  He was born October 9, 1958 in Newport City, Vermont to Wayne Wheeler of Ozark, Missouri and Annie Olsen Marois of Newport City, Vermont.

He was a 1977 graduate of North Country Union High School in Newport City, Vermont.  Steven went on to become a certified electrician.

He was a member of First Praise Baptist Church in Cairo, Illinois under the leadership of Reverend J. L. Posey.

Steven and Angela Sharp were married November 28, 2003.  She survives of the home.

Steven was employed by the Charleston Housing Authority  and Ramada Inn in Sikeston, Missouri for over 22 years, working both simultaneously.  He eventually decided to become his own boss, opening and successfully operating Steve’s Repair Service.

He was able to remodel an entire house and everyone in the community knew him by the quality of his work.  Steven was selfless, always working to provide the best for his family.  He was very passionate about his work and took pride in each task he was asked to perform.

He also enjoyed going to concerts, fishing, bargain shopping, singing and  barbequing.  His barbeque was legendary to his family.  He enjoyed doing it all year, even during the winter months.  In his down time, he would watch television.  Some of his favorite programs  were MASH, Storage Wars, various cooking shows and the DYI channel.

Steven was very caring and genuine. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Marjorie Marois, who was instrumental in his upbringing.

In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by his wife, Angela Sharp Wheeler of Bertrand, Missouri, three daughters, Ashley Wheeler and Christen Wheeler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Samyiah Wheeler of Bertrand, Missouri, one daughter of Angela’s he raised, Ausha (Antonio) Sharp Davis of Holly Spring, Mississippi, her son he raised, Akeem Sharp of Bertrand, Missouri, his first wife, Doris Johnson Wheeler, of Charleston, Missouri, two daughters of hers he raised, Janelle (Robert) Bogan of Charleston, Missouri and Unestine Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, two brothers, his twin brother, Keith Wheeler of Sedalia, Missouri and Mark Olsen of Newport City, Vermont, two sisters, Kathy (Mark) Wheeler Morin of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Ashley Wheeler Harrison of Ozark, Missouri, ten grandchildren including his namesake, Steven Johnson of Spruce Pine, North Carolina and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call Wednesday,  July 29, 2020  from 1:00 P. M. until the funeral hour of 3:00 P. M.  at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Missouri with Pastor Ronald Sloan officiating.
