Susie Bea Reed Kent was born August 25, 1933 in Noxubee, Mississippi to Albert Reed and Lucille Johnson Reed. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jean Kent Rodgers and Eilleen Kent, one brother, Joe Lee Reed, two sisters, Sally Mae Orr and Rosie Lee Kent, one granddaughter, Candice Redd, two great granddaughters, Precious Kent and Brooklyn Kent, and one great grandson, Brandon Kent.
She happily married George Kent on March 31, 1952 and from that union came eleven children.
Susie was a long standing member of Perry Chapel AME Church. She sang in the choir and was the ultimate servant. She helped everyone. She was always baking pies and cakes for others. Her fried chicken and fish were staples as well. She loved to bring joy to those around her.
That quality could be seen in her employment. She was a domesticated worker, who took pride in her duties as a housewife, housekeeper, and child care provider.
Family was everything to Susie. She took pride in taking care of everyone. She enjoyed watching Westerns, fishing, and cooking. She especially loved barbequing on the holidays and cherished her Christmas lights. Her love for gardening could be seen in her beautiful vegetation.
She was happiest when listening to music. She liked her gospel music, the blues, and jazz. Her favorite song was “Little Red Dress,” and she liked Lee Williams’ songs. She would dance in her hats and have a good time. Susie enjoyed life to the fullest.
She made her transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the age of 88 years, nine months and 16 days.
