Walter Austin, Jr.

Walter Austin, Jr. 60, resident of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Sunday, October 22, 2023 at his home. He was born August 29, 1963 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Walter Austin, Sr. and the late Ladene Adkins Austin.

He graduated from Cairo High School in Cairo, Illinois.

Walter had a great passion for serving the Lord. He was a member of New Bethel Church in Portageville, Missouri under the leadership of Bishop Andrew Bell, Jr. While there, he served as a Deacon for four years and was a member of the Pastor’s Aid Committee. Walter never met a stranger. He took every opportunity to spread the goodness of God.

His helping hand extended to his employment. He was passionate about improving the community while working for Cape Tenants in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

In his free time, Walter enjoyed riding his scooter through town and fishing. He will be truly missed.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories three sisters, Esther Austin of Jackson, Missouri, April Austin of Rockford, Illinois, and Stacy Bryars of Kentucky, one uncle, James Adkins of Tamms, Illinois, one aunt, Merlie Worley of Rockford, Illinois, and a host of church family, other relatives, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. at Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, 1713 Washington Avenue in Cairo, Illinois.
