William Bill Calvin

William  Bill  Calvin, 72, resident of Sikeston, Missouri, died January 16, 2019 at Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree, South Carolina.  He was born February 2, 1946 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Jasper and Dora Calvin.

He was of the Baptist faith.

William joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country from June 24, 1964 until June 10, 1966.  He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and an honorable discharge.

Bill moved to Missouri in the  1960's.  He found gainful employment with the Sikeston Public Schools in Sikeston, Missouri for over 25 years.  He also worked for the Matthews Cotton Gin for over six years.

In 1976, he was united in marriage to Essie Williamson.  To this union four children were born. One son, Joseph Williamson, preceded him in death.

He loved hunting, fishing and scrapping iron.  He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife of over 43 years, Essie Calvin of Sikeston, Missouri, he is survived by one son, Allen Williamson of Columbia, Missouri, two daughters, Brenda Williamson and Dorren Calvin Scott of Sikeston, Missouri, two brothers, James Calvin of Columbus, South Carolina and Darrell Montgomery of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister, Michelle Frazier of New York, New York, ten  grandchildren, Kerasjia, Jalishia, Aleshia, Shaquille, Devontae, Raheem, Marqualous,  Jyqualous, JaQualyn, and Alexandria all of Sikeston, Missouri, three great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives  and friends.

Friends may call Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 11:00 A. M. until the funeral hour of 12:00 noon at Freewill Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri with Pastor Victor Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, Missouri with Full Military Honors.   The Williams Funeral Home of Sikeston, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
