Willie David Motton was born on June 10, 1923 to George and Callie Bell Motton, Sr. in Osceola, Arkansas.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the age of 11 years old.
Willie was a faithful Deacon at Smith Chapel Methodist Church in Sikeston, MO and you would often find him teaching Sunday School before Sunday Service. He faithfully taught Sunday School for 15 years.
He loved reading and talking about the Bible; sharing with others the awesomeness of God.
Willie never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as Mr. Motton, Mr. Willie, Willie Motton, Dad and Uncle Willie.
When Willie wasn’t spending time with family and visiting with people in the community; you could find him tending to his garden, mowing his yard, walking or riding his bike.
Willie made his transition on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 97 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Callie Bell Motton, Sr., three brothers – Henry Motton, George Motton, Jr., and William (Bear) Motton, three sisters – Josephine (Motton) Williams, Elizabeth Yarber and Susie Baker, two sons – Curtis Huggins and Joe McCant.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his loving wife of 77 years – Ester Mae Motton, his children – Barbara Ivy of Oklahoma City, OK, Brenda Huggins of St. Louis, MO, Harold (Carolyn) Nabors of Sikeston, MO, Donnie (Lavinia) Nabors, Yolanda (Richard) Nabors, Shan Nabors, Natashia Nabors, David (Carrie) Nabors and Sharon Davenport all of Atlanta, GA.
His brother, Charles (Barbara) Motton, Sr. of Benton Harbor, MI and sister, Beatrice (Albert, Jr.) Patterson of Sikeston, MO who he loved dearly and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and special friends.
Willie would often say, “Families should always love each other and stick together”.
Friends may call Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Smith Chapel Community Center, 201 Young Street, Sikeston, Missouri. Interment will immediately follow in Sikeston Memorial Park.
